Lough Glore Anglers Club

Making the best angling experience better

News update 28\05\08

After the dry last few weeks the lake has begun to fish well for pike.An 18 lb, and a 20 pounder were caught midweek. The rain and wind helped here.I will give further details later in week.We have a competition coming up over the next long weekend and hopefully we will have results and pictures for you then.Slan libh.

A warning

Over the last number of weeks it has come to the notice of the committee that a number of people are just plain ignoring our wish that everyone bring their food rubbish home with them.Kindly bring carrier bags with you and when you have enjoyed your day on the lake and finished your food, please take your rubbish with you. There are others who would like to enjoy without the spectre of unfinished food and discarded cartons etc.Apart from anything else this is illegal. You will be noted and reported, including vehicle details. All those responsible take note. All members are asked to be vigilent and report abuse to committee members.

June 1 competition

Unfortunately for reasons only known to themselves, only one club member turned up for this competition.Edward O Donnell turned up at 10.30 and found himself alone. The day was overcast but warm.Eddy decided to fish on his own.Throughout the day he caught three pike. One a pound, one pound threquarter and one eight pound.Fair play for at least turning up.Hopefully the next comp will have a better turnout?

Latest

I am sorry to say that another competition date has come and gone without any information regarding same to report. The lake is being fished which is clear by the continual trail of rubbish being left behind by users.I myself have witnessed several people having used the facilities ,leaving all their dirt .I have noted their vehicle numbers and passed them on to local garda. These people are not club members nor speak any language that I could understand.I have fished on several occasions myself and can report that there is still  plenty of sport to be had from lively little jacks and some voracious perch.Until next time slan..

new news

I have been informed by the committee, that all competitions have been cancelled until further notice.I am informed that this is due to adverse lake conditions and accessability from the river. The wet year so far has not helped matters.Weeds at the mouth of the river ,the only access to the lake, are restricting access to the lake.

Apologies

I have to apologise to all who have tried using the numbers provided by me to contact Paddy. I inadvertantly wrote down the wrong number when writing this site.I have rectified it on the site and once again apologise for any inconvenience.Have to mention Paul Keating who travelled all the way from Tipperary last week for a days fishing.Although he had no luck with the fish,I hope he enjoyed his day out.And Mr Dunne,I hope you accept my apologies also and can now use the right number.
